<p>The mountain streams, each with a distinctive sound, were running strongly so late in the summer because of heavy snow the previous winter. The high point of the trail was a bit over 12,000 feet and you can see from the photos that large fields of snow remained at that altitude.</p>

These are very nice compact cameras with plenty of manual control. The only drawback for hiking is that the widest angle of the lens is equivalent to a 35mm focal length on a 35mm camera. It would be nice to have a 28mm equivalent or wider in the mountains.</p>
